After our final unit in our Second Year (Transitions Unit) I've stayed in the same group and also chosen to stick to that role. My group this year is Victoria Simmonds, as the Producer/Writer, Jemma Cotterell as the Director/Writer and myself as the Director of Photography but I'll also be taking on the role as Editor for our final project as well. Our Transitions unit, we chose to Remake Jessica Jones. Having done this, we discussed what to go with for our final project for our third year piece. Jemma and Victoria both wanted to make a Documentary as their favourite unit on the course was the Documentary Unit.
In regards to Documentaries, I've been the main camera operator for 2 Documentaries, The Wheelchair Man (Created by myself and Trine Lysholm Hagan) and Forever HOME (Created by Sammi Dennard). I've also been Second Camera for a Documentary called 'The Making of Red & the Kingdom of Sound' which I filmed coverage shots of an orchestra and the audience reactions while they were watching the performance. In my first year of University I helped Produce a documentary for my documentary unit focusing on young peoples opinions towards the Holocaust called 'Are We Numb?' I was on Sound and editing for this documentary. (Documentary was never released.)
I've had a good amount of experience shooting documentaries so I'm feeling confident about being the DOP for ours. With my past experience and contacts (e.i, tutors and cinematographers) I think I'll be able to shoot a high quality documentary.
